When Bojangles fell from a third story balcony, he When Bojangles fell from a third story balcony, he suffered devastating injuries: a severely broken back leg, a fractured front paw, and both of his upper canine teeth shattered. The pain was unimaginable. 🤕💔⁠
⁠
He was taken to Chicago Animal Care and Control, where he received intravenous pain medication for relief and had a feeding tube inserted, as he was unable to eat on his own. That’s where our team met him during a recent transfer visit—and we knew we had to help. 🆘⁠
⁠
Since arriving at Tree House, Bojangles (named after the Southern-style restaurant chain and also known as “Bo”) has undergone surgery to amputate his damaged back leg. His front paw is now in a splint while the bones heal, and he’ll need dental surgery to remove the broken tooth roots before he’s ready for adoption. 🦴🦷⁠

Bo still has a long road ahead, but he’s making progress. Once he’s eating enough on his own to have his feeding tube removed, he’ll continue his healing in a loving foster home. 🏡💞⁠

Bo has already won over our clinic staff with his gentle and resilient spirit, and we can’t wait to see the next chapter of his journey. 🐾⁠

We have a little treat for Honeysauce today! 🐧🍪

It was gloomy day in Chicago, and Honeysauce looked like he could use a pick me up. So we grabbed this tuxedo boy a little penguin (who coincidentally looks like Mr. Sauce’s avian twin) treat dispenser!

Mr. Sauce is on a special diet to keep him healthy, so we put that special kibble in the penguin toy. Just watch the video: Honeysauce knew exactly what to do!

If you adopt Honeysauce, you’ll have all sorts of fun making games for him. He loves foraging for kibble around his room—like a scavenger hunt—as well as any other puzzles for food that he can solve. He’s big-brained when it comes to a tasty treat!

Her foster pawrent recently brought her outdoors for a bit of supervised sunshine and a gentle summer breeze. As she soaked it all in, we couldn’t help but hope: maybe this is Fink’s lucky season. 🍀⁠

Over a year ago, Fink was found as a tiny, injured kitten by a Good Samaritan at Indian Boundary Park—just a few blocks from Tree House. Since then, she’s grown stronger, braver, and more full of personality with each passing day.⁠
⁠
Fink has come a long way. Now, she just needs someone to meet her where she is. If that sounds familiar, you two might just hit it off. 💞⁠

After a long and bumpy road, Sisko has finally arr After a long and bumpy road, Sisko has finally arrived at his destination: home. 🧡⁠

In January, we transferred Sisko from Chicago Animal Care & Control as an emergency case. This brave orange tabby had a severely injured neck, a front limb that ultimately required amputation, anemia—and on top of it all, a compromised immune system due to feline leukemia virus (FeLV). 😷⁠
⁠
We knew his road to recovery wouldn’t be easy. But from the start, Sisko showed us he had the heart of a fighter. 💖⁠
⁠
Healing was slow and sometimes complicated, especially with his weakened immune system. But our dedicated medical staff never gave up—staying late, thinking creatively, and doing everything they could to help him heal. His energetic, dog-like personality didn’t make rest easy either! 🦴🐶⁠
⁠
Once Sisko was strong enough for surgery, our team geared up for the next challenge: amputation. Thanks to the incredible care from both our staff and his foster, the procedure was a success—and his recovery included cozy sweaters to protect his incision and lots of TLC. 🥰⁠

After everything he’d been through, Sisko didn’t have to go far to find his perfect match. He was adopted by the people who had already given him so much: his foster family. 👪️⁠

When these babies are ready, they will get spayed/neutered and adopted out to families who will give them so much love. We hope their mom knows that her babies will be alright! 💕

Hurston and Hughes, a sister and brother duo, were born in an outdoor colony last November. As kittens, they split their time between the great outdoors and quick visits inside their caretaker’s home. At four months old, they came to Tree House for a chance to get adopted into a home of their own! 🤩⁠

Their first month at the shelter, Hurston and Hughes were feeling a little shy and eventually, they realized: maybe indoor life isn’t so scary after all. They watched veteran indoor cats like Fabio hang out with the humans and realized that we aren’t so bad! 😆⁠

After a while, we moved this curious pair into a foster home, where they could build trust with foster pawrent and become even more confident socializing with people. Here are some photos of them playing and just hanging out! 📷️ Hurston and Hughes are a #BetterTogether bonded pair and are available for adoption straight from their foster home and into yours!⁠

At six years old, this gray tabby is as gentle as he looks. Everyone who’s spent time with him agrees—Foggy is pure comfort in cat form. 🤗⁠

He was once adopted by someone who loved him deeply. She told us Foggy always seemed to understand her. But when life circumstances changed, she made the heartbreaking but loving decision to return him to Tree House, hoping he’d find someone new to cherish him just as much. 💞⁠

Before returning to our adoption floor, Foggy spent time in a foster home—and won hearts all over again. 🥰 His foster described him as a sleepy baby by day, happiest when snuggled up next to his human or quietly trailing them from room to room. By evening, he perks up with gentle meows for dinner, then zoomies—because yes, he still has a playful streak!⁠

Now that he’s back with us, our team gets to see firsthand just how special he is. Foggy is a true companion—affectionate, intuitive, and overflowing with love.⁠

Sometimes, trapping kittens really does feel like Sometimes, trapping kittens really does feel like a cartoon scene! 📺

Last week, our team used a drop trap to safely catch a litter of kittens living under an abandoned car in a colony caretaker’s backyard. We set the trap, baited it with classic tuna, and waited quietly. Within minutes, two curious kittens wandered underneath—and with a quick tug of the line from a distance, the trap gently dropped around them! 📦

To catch the remaining two, we placed a regular humane TNR trap near their already-captured siblings. Sure enough, the kittens couldn’t resist joining the party, and we safely trapped them too.

Now all four—Macaroni, Rigatoni, Ditalini, and Rotini—are settling into a foster home. They’ll spend some time socializing and learning to trust humans before they’re ready for adoption! 🏡💞

Baby Bear’s journey started at the City of Herrin Animal Control, but he was in need of extra TLC before joining our FeLV+ cat café crew at Tree House. 🏥 That’s when a kind-hearted foster opened their home—and heart—to help him heal. 🏡❤️ ⁠

As it turned out, that foster home was exactly where he was meant to be all along! Once he was cleared for adoption, they made it official, and Baby Bear’s ultimate wish came true. 💫⁠

Though he's faced his share of health challenges, he meets each one with courage and resilience. And with his devoted adopter by his side, he’s thriving and happily meowing for every bit of chicken he can get! 😸🍗 ⁠

Baby Bear is the sweetest goofball, filling his home with snuggles, warmth, and love—and we’re so grateful he’s in a place where that love is returned a thousand times over. 🥰
